EOS Aluminium Powders for 3D Printing Applications

Aluminium’s material characteristics make it ideal for many applications in many industries, for example aerospace and automotive. 

 

EOS aluminium family of powders encompasses the AlSi10Mg, AlF357 and Al2139 AM alloys which are typical aluminium-silicon casting alloys. These powders are designed and tested for use on EOS metal 3D printers.

All EOS aluminium powders are shipped with an inspection certificate (according to EN 10204, Type 3.1 or 2.2) showing the results of the extensive QA testing.

EOS also offers a wide range of validated processes for each of the above materials. These offer the optimal combination of parameters (e.g. laser power, layer thickness, etc.) in order to ensure that the properties of the 3D printed part are consistently achieved.

EOS Aluminium Al5X1

EOS Aluminium Al5X1* is a heat-treatable aluminium alloy designed for AM to offer a compelling combination of high strength and high elongation. The recommended single-step heat treatment does not require a water quench and enables robust part production.

EOS Aluminium AlF357

EOS Aluminium AlF357 is an ideal material for applications requiring a combination of low weight and mechanical/thermal load endurance. It is a beryllium free derivative of the A357 (AlSi7Mg0.6) alloy. Parts built of EOS Aluminium AlF357 can be machined, shot-peened and polished in the as-built or heat treated state. For this product, a T6-like heat treatment may be utilized to enhance the overall mechanical properties.

Parts printed using EOS Aluminum AlSi10Mg offer good strength, hardness and dynamic properties as well as good thermal properties and low weight. As a Responsible Product the powdered material incorporates a minimum of 30% recycled feedstock achieving a 25% CO2e reduction.

EOS Aluminium Al2139 AM is a 2000-series high strength alloy specifically designed for AM. It demonstrates outstanding performance in elevated temperatures up to 200°C. Excellent strength properties include yield and tensile strength around 500 MPa in heat treated state and allow lightweight part design. The fast and simple heat treatment procedure enables an affordable part production.
